England tour of India-2021
England tour of India is scheduled for 4 tests, 5 T20’s and3 ODI’s. From 5th Feb to 28th March this year. The matches between England and Indian team would be worth watching as this rivalry is one of the toughest rivalries in the cricket world.
2nd MATCH:
India- 1st innings:-
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were opening batmen. However, India could not get a good start as Gill got out in the 2nd over at duck when India was at 0 runs. Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara lifted India’s score to 85 when Pujara was out in 21st over. Soon after this, Virat Kohli got out in the 22nd over at du ck! Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma lifted India’s score to 248.
It was because of hitman’s thrilling 161 off 231 balls with a S/R of 70. Rahane’s 67 off 149 were also crucial for the host team. But, both the set batsmen got out in the 73rd and 76th over with India at 249. After this, Joe Root made Ravichandran Ashwin out at 13 and India reached at 284. The final double figure contribution was made by Rishabh Pant (58 off 77). It made India reach a total of 329/10 with Pant still on crease in 95.5 overs.
England’s Moeen Ali who took 4 wickets in 29 overs conceding 128 runs. Olly stone took 3 wickets and Jack Leach took 2 and Joe Root got 1 .
ENGLAND-1st innings:-
England did not get the start they in search of. England’s Rory Burns and Dom Sibley came to open and Burns got out in the very first over on duck. Sibley and Dan Lawrence tried to lift up the score but Ashwin got Sibley out at 9 with England at 16/2. Soon after this, the English captain Joe Root was out at just 6 runs. And moments later, Ashwin dismissed Lawrence at 9. Up to this moment, England was at 39/4. Though, Ben Stokes and Ollie Pope reached in double figures, but they both were out at 18 and 22 respectively. England still were less than hundred, 87/6. England was all out at just 134 with Ben Foakes, the wicket-keeper as not out at 42 runs.
From the bowling side, it was Ashwin’s marvellous spell of 23.5 overs, giving only 43 runs with 5 wickets in hand. Also, Ishant Sharma and Axar Patel took 2 wickets each and Mohammed Siraj took only 1.
INDIA- 2ND INNINGS:-
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out for opening and added 42 runs on board for the first wicket. Then, Gill and Pujara batted till the 18th over when Pujara lost his wicket at 7 runs. At this moment, India was at 55/2. At the same total, Foakes stumped Sharma who was playing at 26 runs. Soon after, at a total of 65 runs, Foakes also stumped Rishabh Pant at just 8 runs and India was at 65/4. Virat Kohli’s 62 runs off 149 balls helped the hosts to reach 202/7. Up to now Rahane and Axar Patel were out at 10 and 7 runs respectively.
This time it was the spin all round Ravichandran Ashwin who displayed a fine piece of play. His 108 runs knock off 148 balls was the most crucial contribution to the score board! At the end of India’s innings on day 3, the score was 286. Now, England had got a target of 429 to win the 2nd match.

ENGLAND 2nd INNINGS:-
Up to the end of the 2nd day, England were stumbling at 53/3 in 19 overs. Axar Patel dismissed Sibley, when the English were at just 17 runs. Burns also played a short innings of 25 runs off 42 balls before losing his wicket to Ashwin. The final wicket of the day was of J. Leach whom Axar Patel dismissed at duck!
From the 16th morning itself, the Indian team was overpowering the English. Man in form Ashwin dismissed Dan Lawrence thus weakening the guests. After him, Ben Stokes was also out at 8 runs in the 38th over. Hardly had England crossed 100 when O. Pope was also out at 12 runs. Now England again stumbled upon the pitch. Soon after, Ben Foakes also lost his wicket at a mere 2 runs. Now, the guest team was at 116/7 in 49 overs.
In the 50th over itself, at the same total Rahane caught Joe Root at 33 runs. Moeen Ali and O. Stone contributed some runs for the team. This was the final batting partnership for England. Both of these lost their wickets to Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel. Thus, the English innings came to an end at a score of only 164 runs in 54.2 overs. Team India won by a humongous 317 runs!
It was Axar Patel’s day as he took a haul of 5 wickets conceding only 60 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav took 3 and 2 wickets respectively. The series is now at a balance of 1-1. People, including the veterans as well as current players are appreciating the team’s performance.
