For empowering the central Government’s ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ campaign, ISRO and MapmyIndia have joined hands. The Indian Space and Research Organization, together with the indigenous digital maps provider MapmyIndia have decided to provide an alternative of Google Maps in India. The CEO Rohan Verma said,
“MapmyIndia, being a responsible, local Indian company, ensures that its maps reflect the true sovereignty of the country, depicting India’s borders as per the government of India, and hosts its maps in India.”
Founded 25 years ago, MapmyIndia is continuous in its efforts towards digitalizing India in the 21st century. With a vision of
“Making our world better through maps, location technologies & IoT”
the company is all set to form satellite based digital maps for the country. The maps as of now, would cover local areas giving information about the traffic, nooks and corners and many more. The company’s ‘Move’ app has also won the ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat App Challenge’ last year on 7 August. In 2015, Flipkart has also invested in the company for fostering the Made in India maps and services.

MapmyIndia also made it clear that the maps would be provided to people free of cost unlike the foreign companies.

Amidst the situations prevailing in the country, it would be a positive step towards internal strengthening of the nation. This move, would surely check the increasing dependency on the foreign companies for digital and satellite based services. Everyone is quite excited about the venture as two prestigious organizations of the country are about to bring a digital revolution soon.
