MeT Predicted- Super Cyclone Yaas likely to hit Sunderbans between May 23 & 25

As the Regional Meteorological Department has predicted super cyclone Yaas likely to hit Sunderbans between May 23 & 25 and then head towards Bangladesh.

Warning released by MeT states that the super cyclone Yaas may cause similar havoc as what Amphan did last year. However, the MeT department is not sure about the wind direction. In the East-central Bay and its nearby area, a low depression has been formed whose strength is increasing every day. This might take the shape of a super cyclone before hitting the Sunderbans by the end of this week.

As per the weather officials’ prediction after hitting the Sunderbans the storm might move towards Bangladesh. A warning has been issued by the MeT office asking fishermen not to go into the sea on May 23. Areas of Gangetic West Bengal, North and South 24-Parganas might feel an increment in the temperature due to the depression formed in the East Central Bay. Southern Bengal will continue to see the bright sunny day. A strong rainfall is predicted in North Bengal in the next few days as per the Alipore, Regional Meteorological Centre.

Continue increase in mercury may discomfort the city-dwellers in the next few days, predicted by the weather office. The western districts of Bengal will continue to experience bright sunny days while the districts like Bankura, Purulia and West Midanpore may experience high temperature in the next couple of days. The minimum temperature predicted in these districts will remain above 40 degrees Celsius. While the average maximum temperature of the city and its nearby districts might drift around 40 degrees Celsius.
