West Bengal under Total Lockdown till May 30

On Saturday, 15^th May 2021, West Bengal Government announced a total lockdown across the state. Beginning from 6 AM on May 16 to 6 PM on May 30. Moreover, Night Curfew imposed, from Sunday night. Thus, every night from 9 PM to 5 AM.

To control the covid-19 situation across the state strict conditions imposed for two weeks. Especially on the movement of vehicles and other sectors, Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay said. Nearly all services, including the private and public offices, the education sector closed.

What Services are allowed amid West Bengal Lockdown?

•  7 AM to 10 AM: Shops selling vegetables, groceries, fruits, bread, meat, eggs, milk, Retail shops, and supplies open
•  10 AM to 5 PM: Sweetmeat shops open
• 12 PM to 3 PM: Jewelry and Textile shops open
• Private Vehicle/Taxis movement from vaccination centers, hospitals, airports, and media houses allowable
• Intra-state movement of emergency and essential services personnel, goods permitted
• Optical stores and Medical stores will we working as per their usual working hours
• All industries manufacturing medical supplies, Covid-19 protective supplies, health and hygiene care products, oxygen and oxygen cylinders are allowed to function
• Tea Gardens with 50 percent of staff in each shift
• Jute Mills with 30 percent of staff in each shift

• Continuous process industries and production and packaging of essential food commodities. Also, beverages including milk, poultry, fish, and meat  allowed to function
• Automobile workshops, LPG offices/distribution centers, and Petrol Pumps are allowed to function during their usual working hour.
• E-commerce/home delivery of all items allowable
• Financial institutions and Banks to remain open between 10 AM to 2 PM and for ATM operations
• SEBI regulated market entities to remain open
• Electronic Media, Print Media, MSOs, and cable operators to remain functional
• 20 people allowed at funeral rites in accordance with social distancing norms
• 50 people allowed to attend a marriage function. Along with  following the proper social distancing norms
• Movement of vehicles and people for the purpose of law and order, health services. Also, essential commodities including agricultural products and other emergency services allowed.

What Services are not allowed amid West Bengal Lockdown?

• Cinema Halls, Malls, Shopping Complex, Restaurants & Bars, Gyms, Beauty Parlors to remain closed
• All government and private offices, except essential services to remain closed
• Intra-state transport, Metro suspended
• Zoos, Sanctuaries, and Parks closed

• All education institutes, including schools, colleges, and anganwadis  closed
• Movement of private vehicles, except in case of emergency exempted
• Between 9 PM to 5 AM  movement of people and vehicles prohibited

Violations of the above restrictions will invite punishments under the Indian Penal Code and Disaster Management Act 2005.

According to a statement issued by the chief secretary: All protocols related to health and hygiene need to be strictly followed. Including social distancing, wearing masks at all times.
