72nd Republic Day : Here are all the Highlights and awardees list of 2021
The Tricolour unfurled at Rajpath within the presence of President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other dignitaries. The whole nation witnessed the strength of our strong and proud republic. Thus, celebrating the 72nd Republic day of India.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE REPUBLIC DAY PARADE :
- PM Narendra Modi wore a colorful ‘Paghdi’ on republic day. It’s especially gifted to him from the royal family of Gujarat’s Jamnagar. While he laid a wreath at the National War Memorial he wore this ‘Halari Pagh'(royal head turban). Accompanied by a gray jacket and cream-colored shawl. Thus, pursuing the same tradition of wearing colorful turbans on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day.
- In the presence of the Defence Minister, Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, and Chief of Navy Staff Honorable Prime Minister signed the ceremonial book. At the National War Memorial at the India Gate.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TABLEAUS :
- A total of 32 tableaus presented at Rajpath to depict the economic, cultural, and heritage of the country. This 32 tableau includes 17 states and union territories, six from the Defense ministry. Also nine from other Union ministries and paramilitary forces. Moreover, the first time the Ladakh tableau was also featured in this. As the union territory created in 2019 after the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir including the first time.
- The tableau of the Department of Biotechnology depicted the theme of ‘Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan: COVID’. Thus, depicting the whole process of vaccine development through various processes.
- The tableau of Punjab depicted the theme of ‘400th Birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur’. Thus, showcasing the glory of the 9th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur.
- The tableau of Uttar Pradesh depicted the theme of ‘Ayodhya: Cultural Heritage of Uttar Pradesh’.Along with Ram Mandir on display.
- Starting the parade with a one Rafale aircraft flying at a speed of 900km/hr completing out a ‘Vertical Charlie’.Also Piloted by GP Capt Harkirat Singh, Shaurya Chakra, Commanding Officer of 17 Squadron with Sqn Ldr Kislaykant.
- Specially Marching Contingent and Band of Bangladesh Army participated. This is the first-ever time they participated in the republic day parade. The 122-member strong contingent is led by Lt Col Abu Mohammed Shahnoor Shawan.
- The Indian Air Force tableau consists of the first three female fighter pilots of the country Flt Lt Bhawna Kanth.
- Captain Preeti Choudhary, the only woman contingent commander from Army at Republic Day parade 2021. Also, she leads an upgraded Schilka Weapon system of 140 Air Defence Regiment (Self Propelled).
The ‘Rudra’ formation:
- This comprises a Dakota aircraft flanked by 2 Mi-17 IV helicopters. Dakotas were instrumental in airlifting troops into Kashmir Valley. In 1947 to repel invaders from across the border. Also for leading Bangladesh’s liberation they played a significant role in the Tangail airdrop.
The ‘Trinetra’ Formation:
- This comprised of three Su-30MKIs – the three aircraft split outwards and upwards. Thus, forming a ‘Trishul in the Sky’. The formation is led by Gp Capt AK Misra.Along with Commanding Officer of 15 Squadron with Sqn Ldr RC Kulkarni.

- The Farmers’ tractor rally also happened at Delhi’s Dhansa border.

Today’s republic day function ended with pride in oneself for being an Indian. It was since 1967 that the function was attended by no guest from a foreign nation.
On the eve of the 72nd Republic Day, the President conferred 119 Civilian awards together with the gallantry ones.
