Andrea Meza- Miss Universe 2021
On Sunday, Miss Mexico Andrea Meza has crowned Miss Universe in Florida at the age of 26 Years. Andrea finished first ahead of the Brazilian and Peruvian finalists. The show was hosted by American actor Mario Lopez and television personality Olivia Culpo.
Cheslie Kryst, Paulina Vega, and Demi-Leigh, former Miss Universe contestants served as the competition analysts and commentators whereas, a panel of eight women decided the winner.
Andrea Meza dressed up in a sparkling red evening gown, walked with the tearful eyes as Miss Universe for the first time, before going back for a group hug with the fellow competitors.
More than 70 contestants participated in the 69th edition of Miss Universe, held at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Thuzar Wint Lwin, Miss Myanmar who made it to the top 21, made headlines when she used her time in the spotlight to bring attention to the coup in her country. During her biographical video, Thuzar said, “Our people are dying and being shot by the military every day. Therefore, I would like to urge everyone to speak out about Myanmar.” Her video showed photos of her taking part in anti-coup protests.
Thuzar Wint Lwin won the award for best national costume, during the competition segment on Thursday. She wore an outfit beaded with traditional Burmese patterns and held up a sign that said, “Pray for Myanmar.”
Adline Castelino from India
From India, it was Adline Castelino who participated in Miss Universe 2021. She made it to the top five and was declared the third runner-up in the beauty pageant. Taking on her Twitter she said, “This feeling without getting overwhelmed about how I felt as I stood there witnessing people around the world cheering, flags waving high even if I missed seeing IN I felt like I was home.” She further added, “I’m grateful to you that at a young age I have experienced that and if I could only show you what I saw that day! I saw hope, a hope that will be ours soon.”
