TOP electric two wheeler manufacturers in India

India is the hotspot and growing market of the world. The schemes and incentives launched by the government to promote electric mobility have strengthened the infrastructure for EV manufacturers. This showed a positive outlook of the government towards green mobility. There are few electric manufacturers who saw the opportunity and potential of the Indian market and became the torchbearer of the EV industry in India.

List of Electric Manufacturers in India –

HERO Electric: Hero was the first electric manufacturer who saw the opportunity and the potential of the Indian market in the Electric Vehicle segment. One can say that they were the torchbearer for the EV segment in India. Hero launched its first Lithium-ion scooter in 2008 and since then they have sold close to 3, 00,000 units across India through their 314 Hero Electric Scooter Dealers in 218 cities in India.

At present Hero-Electric offers 8 scooters in the price range of Rs. 39,990- Rs. 79,990. The most popular model of Hero Electric includes Optima LA, Flash, NYX, Dash, and Photon. Also, in the year 2020 Hero Electric sold around 8,111 units of its scooters.

Okinawa Scooters:  Okinawa Autotech was established in 2015 and the company launched its first electric two-wheeler in India in Jan 2017. At present Okinawa offers 6 models through its 200+ network of dealers. The 6 models of Okinawa Scooters are PraisePro, iPraise+, Ridge, R30, Dual, Lite. These come in a price range of Rs. 58,992 to Rs. 1.08 lakh and in the year 2020 Okinawa Scooters sells around 5,564 units of e-scooters in India only after Hero Electric.

Ampere Vehicles: Ampere Vehicles was established in 2008. The company has 6 variants of e-scooters Zeal, Magnus, V48, Reo, Reo Elite, and Magnus Pro. The company also launched 2 variants of Industrial vehicles by the name of Trisul and Mitra and in the year 2020 Ampere sold around 4,422 units of e-scooters in India.

Ather Energy: Ather Energy founded in 2013, and received its first funding of Rs. 4.5 million in early 2014 from the Technology Development Board under Department of Science and Technology, IIT Madras, and Srini V Srinivasan founder of Aerospike.

It launched its first product Ather S340 in Bengaluru in 2016 at the startup event surge and in the year 2020 Ather Energy sold around 2,972 units of its scooters. At present Ather sells two models Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus in the domestic market at a price of Rs. 1.39 lakh (Ather 450 Plus) and Rs. 1.59 lakh (Ather 450 X)

Revolt Motors: Revolt Motors is started by Micromax Co-Founder Rahul Sharma. The RV300 is the company’s entry-level offering which is available at a price of Rs. 2,999 per month. While the RV400 comes with two plans- Rs. 3,499 per month and Rs. 3,999 per month.

The company claims that they are the first one in the country who offers Motorcycle-as-a-service, which addresses the challenge of the high cost associated with an electric vehicle.
